CRP – C‑Reactive Protein Test
A blood test that detects and measures inflammation in the body, useful for identifying infections, or autoimmune conditions. This test is especially recommended when infection or inflammation is suspected, or as part of a broader health evaluation.
Measures/Identifies
Detects C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in the blood
Who is it for?
Patients with infection symptoms, autoimmune disorders, chronic illnesses (to detect flare-ups), or recovering from surgery to monitor post-operative infections.
Why this test?
Screening and monitoring inflammation are critical in preventive and clinical care. The semi-quantitative CRP test measures levels of C-reactive protein, a marker produced by the liver in response to inflammation. Elevated CRP can indicate acute infections, inflammatory or autoimmune disorders. Detecting abnormal levels early helps guide further investigations and timely treatment, preventing more severe complications.
