Who is it for?
Pregnant patients from the 9th week of pregnancy onward. Not recommended for patients who have received organ transplants or blood transfusions in the past 6 months.
Why this test?
Identifies the baby's sex by detecting free fetal DNA in the mother's blood by specifically evaluating the presence of Y chromosome DNA. It can be performed from the eighth week of pregnancy, counting from the date of the last menstrual period. It is recommended for pregnant women who wish to know their baby's sex early and safely. The test should not be performed on patients who have received organ or bone marrow transplants, blood transfusions within the last 6 months, or who are taking heparin-based anticoagulants, as these can interfere with the analysis. This study does not detect pregnancy; if performed on a woman who is not pregnant, the result will show “girl,” as it identifies the absence of male DNA.
